"It's the first time I am participating in a competition with my two daughters together, so to secure a championship is especially meaningful," commented world number 14 Medvedev.

The tennis star, the past champion, had lost his previous six finals, comprising in that event in the past months.

The player's retrieving approach and frequent emotional displays on the playing surface had led commentators to doubt if his skill to perform at the elite level was over.

Yet the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, attempting to approach the net and perform positively, supported by an improved serve.

The champion recovered from a deficit in the first set against the tricky Moutet, winning four of the final five exchanges to gain the advantage.

Both players swapped breaks in the middle set before the challenger, striving for his first professional title, seized the initiative to force a decider.

Moutet rescued four initial chances in a competitive final set before Medvedev secured a break to fifteen to serve for the match.

Appropriately, Medvedev clinched the title with a point at the net, with his opponent unable to manage a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
